Challenge
Before the introduction of the robot, the company's employees manually entered data into the label template and sent it for printing. And the more the production was developing, the more time was spent on the process of reconciliation and printing of labels.
Task
Minimize human involvement in such a routine task and automate label printing via thermal printer.
Solution
Development and customization of an algorithm for obtaining data for printing from various sources:
- Email interaction with attached files of reconciliation certificates and with ERP web service was developed;
- The robot reads data into Excel and runs the Zebra Designer Pro application;
- Robot enters data into label template and prints;
- It marks the line in the file as printed and moves on to the next line.
Results
The robot reduced barcode printing speed by 4 times, from 8 hours to 2 hours. The company increased employee productivity and eliminated potential human error.
Advantage of the robot
The robot speeds up the printing process while improving accuracy. It reduced labor costs by 6 m/h per day (or 270 man-days per year).
